Ballots have been mailed out … make sure you take the time to vote!!!

Wheatland Insurance Canned Food Drive – now through Friday, December 16th: Help support Wheatland’s canned food drive by dropping off any “non-perishable” canned food items. This canned food drive will go to help local families during the holiday season. All canned foods collected will be taken to the Neighborhood Center for distribution.

Tuesday evenings – October 18th – November 15th – 6:30-8 p.m. – Health Lifestyle Workshop – Seventh Day Adventist Church Gym: This Health Lifestyle Workshop will focus on “Reversing Diabetes and Coronary Care and will be presented by Gary Fletcher, RN, PA-C. This is a free evidence based informational workshop for reversing lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart attack. This workshop is sponsored by the Heppner Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Friday, October 21 – Sunday, October 30th – Community Wide Clean Up – organized by the City of Heppner: There will be a free dumpster for garbage collection available at the City yard on Riverside Avenue. There will also be a spot to leave yard debris and burnable material. The City will not accept tires, hazardous waste or household chemicals. Saturday, October 22nd from 9am-12 pm – Disaster Preparedness Workshop, sponsored by the Shared Ministry of All Saints Episcopal and Hope Lutheran Churches: The workshop will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church and the Presenter is Judith Warren, the Diocesan Disaster Planning Coordinator from Bend. A light lunch will be provided.

Sunday, October 30th – 1-3 p.m. – “Pumpkin Picking Party” at the Lexington Grange: There is a $5 entry fee that covers picking and decorating a pumpkin and entry in a costume contest. There will also be Carnival Games (Tickets 5 for $1); Basket to Raffle – $5 tickets and Pizza Slices – $2 each.

Monday, October 31st – Haunted Heppner trick ‘r treat event from 2-5 p.m.: Participating businesses will display an “Orange sign” that says “Welcome to Trick or Treat” and will offer treats to costumed children who visit the local downtown businesses. This is being organized by the City of Heppner. For businesses wanted to participate, stop by or call to request a sign.

Saturday, November 19th – 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Ione American Legion Auxiliary’s 6th Annual Holiday Bazaar: This Holiday Bazaar will be held at the Ione Legion Hall; Breakfast, Coffee and Hot Chocolate available for purchase from 8-10 a.m.; Soup, Roll and Dessert available for purchase from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. If you are interested in being a vendor, the Table rent is $10 (space limited); contact Sharon Rietmann at 541-571-0738; leave a message if no answer and she will call you back!
