Oregon Department of Transportation local opening – Local Job for Highway Maintenance Specialist 2: Minimum requirements of two years of maintenance and/or construction experience in roadway/highway, bridge, sign, drawbridge or landscape (any type of ground maintenance, including tree, shrub and lawn maintenance; sprinkler system maintenance, cleaning ditches and catch basins, or work related to professional/commercial or public landscaping, farming or logging; and experience in each of the following areas: Operating heavy and/or light moto5rized equipment; using a hand and power tools; performing minor servicing of equipment and applying safety procedures; OR Two years of experience operating construction and maintenance machinery to include one or more of the following types: front-end loader, road grader, bulldozer, backhoe, tractor/low-boy and 5- or 10- yard dump truck. Friday, March 9th – Friday, April 13th – Willow Creek Valley Economic Development Group offers grant for Community and Public Enhancements for South Morrow County communities: the applicant organization must be a local organization, club, special district or a governmental entity who resides in the south Morrow County service area; must have at least a 50% match (may include in-kind and cash contributions from local and regional sources) for the total project budget committed before applying. All grants must be received by the Chamber office, no later than Friday, April 13th.

Friday, March 23rd – 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. – WorkZone Traffic Control/Flagger Course: This course is for Construction, Utilities, Tree Trimmers, Tow Truck Drivers, etc. and includes instruction and all reference books for the class. Upon successful passage of the exam, students will receive a flagger card, valid for three years from date of issue without renewal. The card is good in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. This course will be held at BMCC Higher Education Center in Hermiston and the cost is $115 to register (deadline 3/19/18). Saturday, March 31st – 8 a.m. – Easter Egg Hunt at Market Fresh Foods: This event is for children ages 11 and under. Stop in and do find some Easter eggs! Stop by and pick up a picture to color; entries are due in store by Friday, March 30th. Prizes will be awarded to each group (Preschool through 6th grade).

Saturday, March 31st – 9 a.m. – Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Heppner Elks: This event is for children ages 12 and under and will be held at the Heppner City Park; the bunny arrives at 9 a.m. and the hunt begins at 10 a.m. Plan on bringing your children and enjoy the “hunt”.

Monday, April 2nd – 12 – 2 p.m. – Ribbon Cutting and Open House for Community Counseling Solutions new building location: Plan on coming and watching the ribbon cutting and stay for the open house and appetizers; the new office address is 550 W. Sperry Street.

Wednesday, April 4th – 9:15 a.m. – U.S. Senator Ron Wyden Town Hall Meeting: The public is invited to attend the town hall meeting; it will be held at the Riverside Jr./Sr. High School Auditorium located at 210 Boardman Avenue, NE in Boardman.

Wednesday, April 4th – 6 pm. – St. Patrick’s “Wrap Up” meeting at Heppner City Hall Conference Room: The St. Patrick’s Committee will be having a “wrap up meeting” to review the events and activities of this year’s St. Patrick’s Wee Bit O’ Ireland Celebration and start the planning for next year. Community members are invited to attend to share their ideas on how to make it better and get involved in the future planning of this big community event. Pizza and beverage will be served.
